Oh man. So I got a job offer from Softscape the next day after interviewing. Seems like a sweet deal, but they forgot to mention how much the were going to pay me, and I forgot to ask. Good thing I didn't accept yet. I told the guy I'm in the middle of interviews and he said he understood ... then he said he'd call me every Wednesday to check up on me and I agreed, afterwards I realized that was dumb.
It's funny how people do things so hastily in certain situations. For example, when I went to Softscape for my int, the recruiting manager greeted me with a "Nice day, huh?". I had expected a more presumable colloquialism, like "How are you?", etc. I immediately responded "Great, thanks!" Immediately afterwards I realized that was really retarded, but I smiled anyway.
Another funny thing that happened. As I was interviewing with the CTO later, he had my demonstrate some of my HTML forms and ASP knowledge by writing some code. Of course, I know how to do this stuff, but who can remember exact syntax and write it on paper?? I thought this was kinda ridiculous, I had all the right ideas and what not, but not exact wording or terminology. So I say to the guy "You know, I would really just Google this right now". He then looks up at me and says "Yea, me too. I just wanted to make sure you got the idea". I thought that was supreme.
One more fun bit of info. At my hip hop dance class the other day I definitely suprised the class and the instructor. You see, at the end of the class, when choreographing is over, we all get in a circle and she puts on a song. Then, one by one, we all go out and do a move, then the next person adds one, and so on and so on until we have a fully choreographed dance. Well, my turn finally came around for the first time since we started this exercise, to Usher and Lil Johns "YEAH!" no less, and I completely busted out some ridiculouse moves, to which the majority of black students were all like "Daamn! white boy got some moves!", or something to that extent. After the class, the instructor was all like, "you totally took the class by surprise". Of course this made me feel good, and then I started thinking about terrible movies about black/white disparity, where the cultured, worldly, black man educating a white man about their differences and how to get along ... oh, and how to dance. I see myself as breaking this mold! Come! Let us usher forth a new era of hip hop savvy white men who can move it!
I like to move it move it!
