I took picture of all of my ties and shirts, separately. I then took picture of all the tie and shirt combinations that I liked. I unloaded these pictures onto my computer into folders: Ties, Shirts, Ties and Shirts, and Lonely Shirts (Shirts with which no tie matched).
I used a photoshop macro to automate all my shirt pictures into 2 X 2.25 inch replicas, sixteen on a page. I did the same with my ties, except larger dimensions, because I only had a handful of ties.
I put checkmarks next to the shirts that needed ties, and numbers next to the shirts that had matching ties to designate how many ties matched with them.
I printed these grids out and took them shopping with me today to the Mall to help me find the best ties and shirts to fill out and complement my wardrobe. When I went to Express, the man asked me if I was looking for the shirts he saw on the paper in my hand, and I told him no, that they were my shirts and I was comparing to find the perfect shirt. He looked at me and told me that was freakish.
For the record, I did not bother to print every tie/shirt combination, that would have been ridiculous.
